Christ Our King Preschool is a non-profit congregational and community service offered by Christ Our King Presbyterian Church. The church preschool was organized in 1973 by a group of church members who were interested in developing a program for three and four year old children based on Christian principles. Administration of the preschool is guided by our Preschool Ministry which is always mindful of the trust parents place in us to teach the whole child: mind, body and spirit. Our Director serves as the everyday "eyes and ears" of our daily operations, and she is always happy to work with parents to meet the needs of their children.

The Christ Our King Preschool Philosophy

The purpose of the preschool is for children to learn about God’s love for us and to learn the importance of expressing our love with kindness, patience, and joy. We meet this goal by providing high-quality, worthwhile educational experiences in an inviting, safe, stimulating and enriching environment.

The preschool program is intended to provide children with developmentally appropriate individual and group experiences to foster age-appropriate

understanding of literacy, mathematics, science and social studies concepts. These experiences promote sound social, intellectual, and emotional growth. Creative experiences such as art, music, literature, and dramatic play are strongly valued.  Attention is also given to gross and fine motor development.

Christian education is an important part of our curriculum. Class activities motivate the child to develop a positive self image, as a child loved by God.  This Christian approach then extends to family, friends, and community. Children are taught to pray in their classes and at snack time. Classes also regularly visit the church sanctuary for "Chapel Time." During this time the children learn about God's love for us through Bible stories, songs, plays, and other interactive experiences. Chapel Time is led by Reverend Jeff Young, COK's Pastor. Pastor Jeff visits the Happy Hearts class in their room.
